NASI LOBAK MERAH / CARROT RICE

  






Carrot Rice

Ingredients

1 kg basmati rice (about 6 cups of regular drinks)
1 large onion sliced
3 cloves of garlic sliced
1 peeled grated carrots
1 cinnamon stick
5 cloves
1 star anise
5 cardamom pods
1 pandan leaves
3 tablespoons ghee
3 tablespoons cooking oil
1 can evaporated milk
1/2 can green peas
Salt
Sugar 
Water quantity equal to rice quantity

Methods

1.    Wash rice and soak for 15-30 minutes.
2.    Heat the ghee and cooking oil.
3.    Put pandan leaves, cinnamon, cloves, star anise and cardamom.
4.    Sauté carrot, sliced onion, sliced garlic, green peas and ginger-garlic paste until fragrant.
5.    Drain the rice and then add to the mixture and stir briefly until well mixed.
6.    Add water and stir briefly. Pour salt and sugar to taste. Put rice cooker lid and let it cook.
7.    Once cooked, serve it with beef pesamah or other spicy dishes.

Nasi Lobak Merah

Bahan-bahan

1 kg beras basmathi (lebih kurang 6 cawan minuman biasa)
1 bawang besar dimayang
3 ulas bawang putih dimayang
1 batang lobak merah disagat
1 batang kulit kayu manis
5 kuntum bunga cengkih
1 kuntum bunga lawang
5 biji buah pelaga
1 helai daun pandan
3 sudu besar minyak sapi
3 sudu besar minyak masak
1 tin susu cair
1/2 tin kacang peas
Garam
Gula 
Air mengikut sukatan beras

Langkah-langkah

1.    Cuci beras dan direndam selama 15 – 30 minit.
2.    Panaskan minyak sapi dan minyak masak.
3.    Masukkan daun pandan, kulit kayu manis, bunga cengkih, bunga lawang dan buah pelaga.
4.    Tumiskan lobak merah, bawang besar, bawang putih, kacang peas dan pes halia bawang putih sehingga naik bau.
5.    Toskan beras kemudian masukkan ke dalam bekas tumisan dan gaul seketika sehingga semua sebati.
6.    Masukkan air dan kacau seketika, masukkan susu cair, masukkan garam dan gula secukup rasa.  Setelah beras mengembang tutup periuk dan biarkan sehingga masak.
7.    Setelah masak goreskan nasi dan hidangkan bersama pesamah daging atau lauk-pauk lain.

  2. my mum buat tak payah taruk susu cair pun. ingredient seem to be so complicated. Every people got thier own ways of making dishes. now i myself dont even know which ingredient is the best.

    1. Thanks Anonymous, susu cair kalau taruk nak bagi nasi jadi lembut dan lemak. Up to individual to choose which ingredients to use. You can get the best recipe and taste if you can combine the recipe, I hope,
